Encourage your Team in empathy, to think first
Recently there was a tragic accident with the black French bulldog which lost its life. The small dog was put inside an overhead bin on an airplane, presumably forced by a flight attendant. The cute living animal did not survive! I am a big fan of animals and I was shocked by that story.
Indeed, the airline safety procedure says: "the animal is expected to be seated in the floor space below a passenger seat". Why an airline employee and owner broke that rule?
From my experience it's obvious that people obey when they are pushed to their limits, regardless of stupidity in its nature. There is no excuse for that but it is up to managers, leaders and company culture as an entire system in place how do we train, develop and encourage people to behave and think, even though they forget thousand of complex procedures.
